Much about Nothing (Warning-I was a little long winded)

I don't really have a direction with this post...Like I said in the previous post, these next couple of weeks are C-R-A-Z-Y around the Allen household....and the first part of this week hasn't been any different...There are days when I think I can't wait for school to be out, and to spend time with my precious children...and then I get smacked back into reality when I have an evening like I had one day earlier this week....Everyone is arguing, fussing, and talking back, not picking up, fighting over the computer, or the scooter, the basketball, or who has to carry the dog's water to her....and I think to myself....Maybe the countdown on my blog should be "........days until school starts" .... Gasp! Some of you may be shocked....but I am human...and even though I love my children more than anything in this world...I do love my "me"time too....and once May 21st comes along...that will pretty much be over until August....except when I get to go to work...notice I said "get to"...That gets me to one thing I wanted to post about...As many of you know, I am a registered nurse and I work for a local call center in our area.....(if you don't know what a call center is...it is an all RN staffed office that answers telephone calls concerning medical questions, triage calls ect. We also do physician referrals, class registrations, and many other things...we have recently even started taking calls from a hospital in Nebraska....Wow!!) I don't really even feel like a "nurse" anymore....I did my share of hospital nursing...2 years on a medical floor--that was so bad, it made me want to go work at Wal-mart...then 8 and 1/2 years working on a Labor and Delivery floor....I thoroughly enjoyed this realm of nursing...for a time...but this too was not where I felt that God intended for me to be....I truly prayed about my job...with many interviews, and jobs opportunities. I realized that God wanted me to stay put...on the Birthplace-even though it wasn't what I wanted(funny how God doesn't always think our way is the best way).....I made so many wonderful friends on this unit...but I just wasn't happy..(I know some of you guys read my blog...so be sure to comment!!! I would love to hear from you!!!!! Miss you guys!!) When the opportunity became available for the call center...I jumped at it...and I haven't looked back since....I say all of this because of what happened at our staff meeting yesterday....As many of you know...Macey and I are planning on taking the big trip to AMTC in July for her "chance of a lifetime"...and the week that we are going just happens to be on a week where a number of people have asked for vacation....I have an awesome boss...who went out of her way to readjust the schedule...so Macey and I can go....She actually almost brought me to tears yesterday....There aren't many places in life where someone can work with a group of women who feel like "family"...who "care" about each other enough to help one another out...I have always been used to the "your are on your own" type of attitude....I just want to say "thanks, Judy" for all you do, and for doing what you have done to make this dream possible for Macey(and me)....I think I may cry while I am typing this...But it seriously means a lot to me....Anyway...now that you all know my work history...ha ha...You know this blog is therapy for me..right?

Ok, enough of the deep stuff....Let me wipe my tears....=) Ball games...We had 2 in a row last night....Cade at 6...Ian at 8...We were at the ball fields until 10:40!!!! on a school night...made for some very grumpy children this morning...believe me....We had 2 wins...Cade is so cute playing ball...and he loves it...He does come by it honest...with his Daddy and Ian hanging around...don't think he has much choice...He played well..I wouldn't go as far as saying...he is great or anything...but he understands the game, and he makes hits, and has actually gotten a few kids out...but he definitely wins the CUTENESS award...=) I know I said that before so I will go on...They don't actually keep score at these games, but my psycho, obsessed, coach of a husband (love you honey) does keep score...and we won....I just don't remember the score...It was close...something like 14-12....I am sure he will correct me if I am wrong on that one...ha ha....

Ian's game...They played FABULOUS!! if I do say so myself...the Padres won 16-2...YIPPEE!! They just played the best game ever...They hit everything, and they were great in the field...I won't bore you with all the baseball details...but this particular play was phenomenal...Ian was walked this particular time up to bat....One of Ian's skills is speed...always has been...so the ball passes home plate...the catcher misses...he threw his mask off fumbling around for the ball...he looks up and Ian is on 2nd...(like I said, Ian is fast!) He throws the ball to 2nd, overthrew, and Ian made it to 3rd...simply by stealing...He never even hit the ball...Everyone was cheering...and Ian thought he was big stuff.....he came home on a walk, but made a run for the team regardless....=) One more thing about the games last night...We FROZE our hineys off....Cade got inside my mom's jacket, with her still in it...which was funny....and fell asleep...and Macey fell asleep on my lap about 9ish....this was the last thing she said before she couldn't keep her eyes open anymore....
"Mommy, I honestly think baseball is the most BORING sport ever...seriously...." and she was snoozing....You gotta love her, but she is definitely wrong about the boring part....=)

We have church directory pictures tonight...so I can't wait to attempt to get everyone ready for that...should be lots of fun...Well, Mr. Cade wants me to watch some cartoons with him..and who could pass up that opportunity?

I love your new background...very cute! Thanks for leaving me a comment and putting my link on your blog! We had a tree fall in our yard on Sunday too - the wind was crazy that day!

I can imagine how excited Ian was on scoring with a walk. Davis did the same thing at a tournament a couple weekends ago and you would think he had hit a home run by the way he acted! :o)

I am glad you like your job...I wish I could say the same! Love ya!
