Much Ado About Nothing....

This week has been non stop....Not only have I felt absolutely horrible...but we have had 3 baseball games, library day, DB basketball camp, 2 sleepovers, still worked 3 night shifts, AND did pictures for Ian's baseball team....there are a few more things I could add to the list...but I will try not to bore you with details :)

First thing I want to address is my most favorite purchase EVER!!! Thanks to my good friend, Lisa....a snow cone machine....I was feeling pretty yucky the other night at work...and what did my good friend, Lisa go and pull out of her car???? A snow cone machine???? Are you kidding me? I am on a diet.....No, it only gets better.....the syrup for the snow cone is sugar free!!! 5 Calories for the BEST dessert I have had since I have been on this diet (the diet is a whole separate post in itself....but I am doing good...have lost 6 pounds the first week!! :) Yeah!) Anyway, Yes...I had to have one...and I found mine at Target...for about 25.00...I have already used it when Ian had his friend spend the night...and we are the coolest parents EVER...who have a snow cone machine in their house...I already have plans for taking it to the beach...I can see it now....I love summer....These icy treats have been good for my horrendous cough too...So there is my little commerical...Free of charge....It is a MUST HAVE....(Just consider it The Beach Hut--Dave Ramsey's way....Ha ha....for those bloggers not from our area...Beach Hut is a snow cone place in our area.....Ha ha ha..)

The next matter I want to post about is the most AWESOME baseball game ever played!!!! Ian's team, The Padres, were undeafeted...and the team we played, the Red's,(Tyler and Tanner's team-Ian's good friends) were also undeafeted....Obviously someone would end up defeated after this game....and I am happy to announce it was not us....YIPPEE!!!! We won 7-2 and it was the best game of the season.....I won't go into all the details of the game....but I wanted to discuss a matter that is highly important to me...and James also....Yes, winning is fun...and it is ultimately the reason for playing a baseball game..or any other game for that matter....(Believe me, when I played Domino's with Tommy and Jayme the other night....I WANTED to win)....but the thing that completely irritated me at our game was the lack of Sportsmanship.....I wouldn't post this, if it was concerning our opponent...but it was on our own team...James has coached many teams over the past few years....and like he has said many times before...."yes, winning is fun...but it isn't everything...Learning lessons, like how to hold your head up high after a loss is important too...." Any how...the point of all this is...there was a (only one...our parents are awesome on our team...but yes, one person can ruin anything) parent on our team...saying things to "shake" the other team up....I tolerated it for most of the game...but near the end of the game....after Tyler and Tanner's mom had commented to me on how it bothered her for someone to "purposely try to shake her kids up".....I couldn't sit still...so I said something to this parent...I want everyone to know that I did say a small prayer before opening my mouth...I asked the Lord to give me the words to say...and I think he did...I told this parent that some of my kids best friends played on the opposing team...and although it is great to cheer on our team...I am 100% for that...I don't think it is neccessary to "attempt to bring down the other team"....He just looked at me...and made the following statement..."hey...that is baseball..." Hmmmmm....Out of all the years, James has coached baseball, football, tball......I don't EVER remember him saying this type of attitude was ok...I know it isn't to me....So, Yes, I opened my mouth once again...."Well, Sir, that isn't baseball to me....and I KNOW it isn't how James wants baseball played on his team...." and that was that....My heart rate was high, but I had made my point...Sportsmanship matters...These are 10 year old kids...and I want them to learn what is right in this world of ours...and bringing down others...whether on the baseball field or not....is not acceptable.....I immediately got up and headed to the opponent's bleachers, where many of our good friends were sitting...I apologized for the things that had been said coming from "our side" of the field...and as I turned around...a group of parents from our team had followed me...to do the same...apologize for the actions of 1 parent....they were very supportive and thanked me for what I had said....The Red's were very appreciative of our parent's and even commented on what a great game we had had.....I am typically not one to confront others...but I did it this time...and it felt good...Our God is Good....Even on the Baseball field.....=)

I did have a few other things to post about...but I think I will just end it here....I didn't plan on typing a book...but once I got started...I had to let it ALL out...Ha ha....I did go to the doctor today...he gave me an inhaler...great...My visit to the doctor is another post all in itself...I may post about it later...Gotta go and get ready for work...James and Ian are at their first All-Star practice..James is so excited about this baseball team....I am sure there will be many posts to come about that team as well....Hope everyone has a great weekend....God Bless....

I have seen and heard some UGLY things from parents of kids playing sports. Last year during Basketball, one mom didnt like the way the ref was calling the game so she started calling him names and when he tried to throw her out, she walked up to him and jerked the whistle off his neck. That's the way to teach your kids sportsmanship, huh?

I know it sounds awful to say, but a kids t-ball, baseball, basketball game can really help you see people's true colors. I am glad you spoke up. You are teaching your kids a lesson they will never forget.

And as for the snowcone thing.....I like orange - when are we coming over? hahhahaha
