Carowinds, Mother's Day, Bad Wind

Updated***I added a few pictures of the fallen tree...and a couple from Mother's Day...Remember I didn't feel too good on Mother's day..so I have looked better;) Busy, busy, busy...will post later tonight...Go David Cook!!

Yes, it is late for me to be on the computer...2:30 am..I am at work...I brought my laptop tonight to work on some pictures, and thought I would blog a little before I put it up....We had a blast at Carowinds on Saturday...We were up at 5 am, picked up our friends, the Hite's at 5:50 and we were on our way...Hunter and his friend, Jacob rode the bus down, and Ian went down on Friday night with the Holt's (Ian's good friend from school)..So we were going to catch up with the kids once we arrived at the park..an uneventful trip...which is always a good thing...

Once we arrived at the park, we met the kids in front of the Carowinds theatre where they did their performance for the Choral Festival (the whole reason we made this school trip) They did really well, and won a Superior Award...which is the highest one they can win...Great Job, TJ Singers!!! We are so proud of you guys....Then we had the rest of the day to enjoy the park...Come to find out, these boys that we thought were so tough...aren't big roller coaster fans...I was shocked...So, we divided up and conquered the park...making sure each kid that was with us, got to do something that was fun for them...We rode the Carolina Cyclone (3 loops and 4 inversions), the Hurler (wooden coaster--my FAV, the Ricochet, and a few of the boys rode the Drop Zone (including my Ian) Ian pretty much rode everything...This was the first year that he was tall enough for some of the big coasters, so he thought he was BIG stuff...He had a great day spending it with his closest friends...(this is Jacob, Hunter, Tyler, and Ian and Tanner in line for the Ricochet)Carowinds was a great park...but it was SO crowded...There was lots of rides we didn't get to ride, due to the LARGE crowd...I realized as I get older, that my tolerance for crowds, and waiting in line has decreased somewhat...People tend to get on my nerves, and lines always just seem too long...I remember when waiting in line didn't seem to bother me....Oh well, part of it, I guess....(Here is Emmy too)

Our drive home was fun...Nothing like sweating all day in the hot sun, and then jumping in the van with 6 people, who are all exhausted and driving for 4 hours....=) No , seriously, we were tired, but we had a great time, laughing and just being silly on our way home....I would share some of it on my blog, but for some reason, I am feeling it just won't seem as funny to you.... Big Daddy Cheese!!! (There is a story behind that saying too!!)
Well, needless to say, when we got home around 11, we headed to my mom's to pick up Macey and Cade...got home, TOOK SHOWERS -to "de-slime" as Kevin said...and we CRASHED!! I don't think any of us moved all night....
Today was Mother's day...Dave Ramsey has changed the way we do holidays...in other words...we just don't...James and the kids took me to eat lunch, and we went to Cootie Brown's(which was yummy!) I got my mom and James' mom a card...but no gift...not yet anyway..and I think they both understood....The kids made cards for each of them, and we went and spent some time with each of them Sunday afternoon....which I think they both appreciated....After that I came home with the worst headache...I don't usually get headaches, but I had a horrible one today..nauseated, blurred vision...the works...I came home and climbed in bed around 4...and didn't get up until 8...then had to leave for work...My head is a little better, but still bothering me some....
In the hour I was awake from 8-9, We were all sitting in the den, which is the end of our house that is next to 6 very LARGE trees....James and I were talking when all of a sudden we heard a tree cracking....

"Run", James yelled, and the kids and I all jumped up and headed to my bedroom, which is in the far end of the house.....
Thank the Lord for protecting us...One of the huge trees in our backyard had fallen, and was laying on the ground....Once we were sure that it was safe, James took a flashlight, and headed outside to check out the damage....The wind here in East Tennessee has been bad today, so the reason for the fallen tree....Oreo, my black lab, was a little frightened, but other than a mess to clean up this week..no major damage....So, that was my weekend...

So, now here I am at work, glad the wind seems to have calmed down...It sure was a whirl of a weekend, but we had a great time....I am so glad that school is almost out, so I can spend lots more time with the kiddos....

There are so many school functions coming up in the next week or so...I won't be able to blog them all...Hee hee..You guys know me better than that...I am sure...they may be a little delayed though...(I went to Ian and Macey's class picnics last week, and have yet to post anything about those) Cade's Pre-K program, Cade's end of school Luau, Awards day, and 5th Grade Graduation, just to name a few....Hope everyone has a great Monday...Let's get back to work....
You will have to excuse all of the rambling in this post...my mind was going in all directions...

WE have so many end of year things going on I cant keep up with them all! Today was supposed to be field day, but the weather is too bad so it has been postponed.
I am sure your parents understand about no gifts for mothers day. After all, would you care if your kids didnt get you anything besides a card and a hug? Of course not - you would love to get a card from them! You guys are doing things the smart way - I am sure both your mothers have everything they need and want - while you guys are teaching your kids the importance of being good stewards of what God has given you. I think it's an awesome testimony that you will see huge blessings from. What better way to teach your kids the importance of money and handling money than to let them see mom and dad doing things God's way?
I have said it before, but I think its true - you guys are great parents!

I'm glad you're all safe. We're doing the Dave Ramsey course as well. It's wonderful! I can't wait for the next telemarketer to call just so I can say, I'm sorry, Dave Ramsey won't let me!
Have a great week.
Brenda :)

Been to Carowinds many times. I grew up about an hour North of Charlotte. My school used to take an end of the year trip every year. We too had a tree fall Sunday..right across our car! Was not what we expected!!!

I enjoyed reading your blog entries.

Okay, this did not happen the way we discussed. That tree was supposed to fall on your roof and not damage anything else so your insurance would pay for the new roof you need but Dave Ramsey won't let you get! Maybe if we'd actually held hands and prayed over it, God might have made it happen that way. Freaky that it fell just a week after we joked about it when I dropped you off after the conference.
